Milkwood Masters

If you live anywhere near Melbourne, you must go to Milkwood.

Milkwood is a wonderful little cafe in Brunswick. Absolutely delicious organic foods! I'm a little obsessed with the ricotta pancakes with honey yoghurt, banana and toasted shredded coconut.

Yep, I'm dribbling right now.

Yummiest coffee I have ever had. And some heavy reading... my Masters. Time to read it all the way through. It's a little mind boggling. Thank god for Milkwood

Thesis complete.

My thesis is finally finished and I received my results just last week. It was 108 pages when it was finally printed. It was so satisfying submitting it.

And then, on Tuesday, my results were released. The lovely boyfriend sent these as a congratulations and celebration of all that effort that I put in. I've never had flowers delivered before! I was quite surprised!

A wonderful combination with my H1 result. Yep, H1. Booyah! hahaha I'm ecstatic!

Soon, my pretties. Soon it will be over.

14th. It's all due on the 14th November 2011.

I'm confident all of the problems have been overcome - including laptop death, losing bits and sickness. Now I just must tackle the red pen. I promise to return once this is all over!

Disney support.

I've been watching Disney movies as I write up my thesis. It's good. I sing along to them as I do my work and fall in love with them all over again. So far I've watched:

Aladdin

Beauty and the Beast

Cinderella

Little Mermaid

Sleeping Beauty

The Rescuers

I love the Disney villians. They always get the best songs. I had forgotten about Medusa from The Rescuers. She has a bit of Cruella De Vil, Ursula and Izma about her.

Now I'm off to get my mits on Hercules, Snow White and Tangled!

Beach squeals

I've just been down the beach! Only for a day or so, but it was so magnificent! I'll do a post about it soon. First, I have to write 7000 words for my thesis this week! Eek! Wish me luck!

Who needs apples?

I love my job. I love being a teacher. I love being in Education.

I'm happy enough seeing kid's faces light up when they finally understand something, or taking the knowledge that they've gained in from you and just building and building on it until it becomes their own knowledge. I've received some fantastic compliments ("You explain it better than the textbook!") and wonderful cards from students. Never before have I received a gift. Until Friday.

Om Nom Nom. Some delicious cookies from a mother of a student in a holiday course I've been tutoring. I swear I turned bright red!

And then promptly ate them all. They were so delicious!

Who needs apples as a teacher when you can have cookies??

Real World, Real Jobs

Last night I applied for my very first real school teaching job.

I'm so excited, proud, nervous and pumped! I'm finally entering the world of "Real Jobs" hahaha

Freak out.

Reach for the champagne. All is well again.

I blue myself.

I love days like today. It feels like winter is finally giving way to spring.

(Flavours: Hazelnut and Coffee)
Some festively plump macaroons as a little snack. I want to learn how to make these babies, but they seem a little bit fiddly. Can you get packet mix macaroons? hehehe

A new building near uni. Doesn't it look cool?

Ahh... Melbourne Uni. How I love your beautiful buildings.

My research is going really well. I've really put my bum up in the air and got stuff done. It feels fantastic! So pumped! :D

10 Points for the Arrested Development reference! Woot!

Sunshine!

It was such a beautiful day yesterday, I had to take my study outside. Just look at how blue the sky is!

Even though the sun felt beautiful on my skin I began to worry about sunburn. You know how your skin is always super sensitive to the sun after hiding away all winter? Yeah. Mine can be quite pathetic in that regard. No sunburn though :)

Puppy kept me company :) What a good girl!

I only hope that the sun stays a little longer!

Study snack.

This is how I study. I have a bit of a draft due Monday and I feel like I'm falling behind. So this is what I'll be doing all weekend. Hoorah!

Tiny Teddies, Nerd Rope, Nerds (wild cheery and watermelon flavour!), milk & cookies Milky Bar and peanut butter Twix.

On nom nom nom. I'll let you know how the peanut butter Twix goes!

I'm thinking I'd like to organise a small giveaway on my blog. Would a sugary collection such as the above be in demand? I'm just not quiet sure what to giveaway, see. hehehehe!

PhD.

It's as I sit here, procrastinating away, munching on candy hearts (actually, I won't lie, they've been gone for a while now) that I have decided that I really do want to do a PhD.

What.a.nerd.

I'm pretty proud though :)

Study fuel

I tell you, my friends, that I am loving the food re-inventions of late. For example:

YoGo Mix

Choc YoGo Explosion with choc honeycomb

Looks disgusting, tastes delicious!

Nerds Rope
'Soft gummy rope covered with tiny tangy crunchy nerds candy'

Sweet sweet sugary explosions of yummy in my mouth!

Can you tell I'm back in study mode? :P

Knowledge tunnel.

It has come to the point in my Masters where I have to start putting pen to paper. Or typing up a Word document of all my wonderful knowledge.

I'm a keen procrastinator. I have, however, been trying to control myself. Hence, no blog posts. All this really means is that I've been watching Downton Abbey and reading every possible article remotely related to my research and going out for coffee.

I promise I will be bringing you better blogging soon, once I tame a bit of my literature review :)

Stealth cake

If you were anywhere near Melbourne today, you know how beautiful the weather was. The sun was shining on brightly; trying to persuade everyone that winter was far far away. Oh how I wish it was so!

I decided to make the most of the weather and study demands. That meant a road trip to Yarra Glen. It's such a fantastic drive out there - beautiful views all around. Also slightly obsessed with driving around with my windows down playing Lady Gaga nice and loud! hahaha

All for this. The cakes from a cafe called 'Delicious' are damn delicious. Beautiful fudgy homemade hazelnut brownie. So good.

Oh, and definitely converted to the world of coffee.

I made sure to sit outside in the sun, amongst the garden. Smelt fantastic!

Homeward bound! How beautiful do the clouds look? I just want winter to stay away.

Satisfying study.

I'm a procrastinator at heart. I'm wonderful at wasting time. Getting my butt into gear and settling down to do study when the deadline is far far away (November!) is difficult.

I've been trying to force myself to get into good study habits and being able to study for at least two hours a day. It's tough. But I've been trying to make it easier for myself.

iKou Aromacology oil burner melts in "Zen" (green tea and cherry blossom)

I've been trying to use these beautiful smelling melts when I sit down to study as my 'study smell'. Usually I love floral (especially rose), berry or sandalwood smells so this one is quite different from my usual smells. Does it work? I'm not sure. Hoping so.

A new lamp to help me light my way to enlightenment!

So fellow nerds, how do you study? What helps? What hinders? What helpful hints can you share?

Melted chocolate and peanut butter soup.

It's delicious. Trust me.

It's been getting cold in Melbourne and I'm trying to get some study done. Inevitably, this means this girl gets a sugar craving. While I now drink coffee, I only like it from a cafe. No instant coffee business please. So I revert back to the ways of hot chocolate. Or rather, melted chocolate and peanut butter soup.

To make melted chocolate and peanut butter soup, maul one of the few left over Easter bunnies. (Yeah, that box of creme eggs? Gone.)

Place mauled bunny in a mug or bowl, depending how much chocolate you have at hand.

Add a dollop of crunchy peanut butter (because we all know that's the best kind of peanut butter).

Place in microwave. I put it in for 30-40seconds. Sometimes it's perfect, sometimes our concoction needs a little longer. Adjust accordingly.

Mix.

Enjoy!
Om nom nom nom!

Orange.

Firstly, thank you for all your wonderful feedback and comments on my last blog post. They were all really warming :) I was feeling so warm and fuzzy from the comments and feeling like hot stuff in my outfit yesterday that I nearly nearly went for the outfit post. But chickened out. Sorry ladies.

Instead, here is some pictures of my dress. My new second hand dress. I picked it up from the local Salvos, going for half price.

$4.50 for this baby!

Here's a close up of the pattern. I can't wait to play with all the other colours in the dress.

And my very cute handbag that I got from the Flower Show last week:

I visited my supervisor yesterday and she was very impressed with my research progress! A wonderful confident booster :) And left me with the compliment that I was very good at doing pretty and girly :D

Prouder. Again.

Check out what arrived in the mail today...

Booyah! Yep, it's a fancy bit of paper that says "Fuck Yeah! You're a teacher now!"

I didn't bother getting my certificate for my Bachelor of Arts framed. Nor did I bother with the professional photographs on the night. I didn't really work hard for my Bachelor of Arts. I just did it and got out. But this one is different.

I slaved my butt off for this one. I cried my eyes out and I stressed until the stress ball popped. And I loved it all. So this one is getting framed.

Things I love about Easter:

1. Hot cross buns for breakfast
2. Kinder Surprise Easter Bunnies
3. Cadbury Creme Eggs.

Yummmmmmmmmm...

Heaven.

[picture removed]

I know, I know. Croissants yesterday, creme eggs today! I'm terrible for your visual waistline. However, I'm studying. And it sucks. Especially since Mr. Love is turning me away without my sooky procrastinating need for hugs and cuddles being fulfilled.
