Royally inspired.

Boyfriend, if you see this - do not panic. pretty please? :)

Inspired by the Royal Wedding last month, I've been thinking of things I would like at my own wedding. Again, I'm no where near Marriage Land, but you know, every girl dreams :)

I've collected these images from here, there and everywhere over the last few years, so apologies for not citing them.

The Inspiration.

Fun, magical and exciting.

The Size.

A small and intimate affair please. I just want to be surrounded by love :)

The Setting.

The ceremony would take place outside, under a big tree in either a garden or forest.

The reception would then be a casual picnic of sorts, that carried on into the night.

The Bridesmaids.

My sisters will be my bridesmaids, in different colourful dresses that flatter them.

The Flowers.

A beautiful rainbow of colours! Ranunculus maybe? Roses? Peonies?

The Food.

No gifts for our wedding please. Instead, bring a plate of food to share. A BBQ or something will be provided, and lots of champagne!

I want to wear flowers in my hair! Who cares about the rest??? haha

I think it may just be time to start building one of these babies.

The weather has turned wintery cold these past few days and I'm all stuffy headed with a cold. I'd love to snuggle up in a warm cubby with lots of pillows and blankets and books.

I particularly like this one from the film The Holiday (above). I love that movie :)

Golden Globe 2011 Gowns

I love a good occasion to dress up! And if I can't dress up, then I love umm-ing and ahhh-ing over what everyone else wore. I've picked out my three favourite dresses of the Golden Globes to share with you all :)

Always a stunning beauty, she shone in this gorgeous emerald gown. Everything is right. Her hair, her dress, her jewelry. I'm green with envy (oh yeah, you love a pun!)

Stunning on Modern Family (which I love!) and even more stunning in this lovely gown. Such a beautiful colour palette. Gorgeous hair-do too :)

Another nude colour love. I think if I went to the Golden Globes, this would be the dress I'd wear. I love the sparkle, I love the sleeves, I love the train and shape. In searching for pictures, I read some non-love for her hair-do, but I think it looks great with the dress :)

Christmas Wishlist

Dear Santa,

Christmas is near! And I have very eagerly compiled my Christmas Wishlist :)

1. As previously mentioned, I would love Eleanor Herman's book Sex with the Queen. Anne Boleyn gets a big mention in the blurb, so what wouldn't there be to like? ;)

2. The Tudors DVD set. Either of just Season 4, or the big box set goodness you can get. I'm forever lending my own DVD copies out to others, so it seems only right that I have two copies of them all :D

3. An iPhone. Yes, I wanna join the bandwagon. To be fair though, my ipod (which lasted me an amazing 6 years) and phone are either dead and/or dying. And you can play Sneezies on the iPhone. And Words. And that Fruit Ninja game. And oh god how I hate myself now. But I want one!

4. A nice, preferably built-in, desk with shelves. My current desk is the size of a large beast - and that's largely the problem. I want shelves to show off my ever-growing book and teapot collections. Right now, nothing fits. So let's start from scratch and do it all over again, please!

5. A romantic holiday down the beach with my beloved boyfriend. I missed out on an earlier holiday down the beach this year because of my huge uni demands and I want to make up for it now! So give me some relaxing sunlight, ice cream and laughter and I'm yours.

Sex with Royalty

I've found it really hard to get into 'relaxing' mode these holidays. I had 8 large assignments due in the last two weeks of uni, with a total of 24 assignments for the semester. You'd think it'd be oh-so-easy to put up your feet and relax after that... but I have (weirdly) really struggled. But, I think (and hope) that I have finally conquered it.

And how can I tell? Why, I finished a book!

I have been reading this book for a long time. Or rather, I started it last holidays, was forced to put it down to complete my 24 assignments and only just finished it. And it is awesome!

At first I was a little put off by a few things. Firstly, Eleanor Herman is a journalist, not a historian. Secondly, I was hoping for more of my beloved Henry VIII's wives; particularly Anne Boleyn. And finally, I was slightly confused while reading it. See, each chapter is based on a theme, rather than giving narrative biographies of royal mistresses. With the book centering largely on around a small selection of women (largely, but not limited to: Madame de Pompadour, Madame du Barry, Marquise de Montespan, Lady Castlemine, Nell Gwynn), it seemed thematic approach lost some of the details of the lives of these lavish ladies.

However, after letting go of my grudges, I found the book to read like a juicy juicy gossipy book. I couldn't help but love it and become sucked into these different worlds. More than once I longly thought to myself 'oh, if only I could become the king's mistress!' The dresses, the jewels, the extravagance and scandal! Wow. Definitely worth a fun and exciting read :)

I was touring Borders trying to scout out a good book on Anne Boleyn (anyone got any suggestions?) when I found that Eleanor Herman has also written a book Sex with Queens. That is most definitely on my Christmas Wishlist!
