Taste tester of Flower Show

For now, here is a taste tester of the Melbourne International Flower and Garden show currently on at the Royal Exhibition Building and surrounding gardens.

Despite predictions of 19degrees celsuis and showers, we were blessed with a beautiful day.

We spied four Australian gardening celebrities; Don Burke, Graham Ross (Better Homes and Gardens), Jason Hodges (aka, the one with the pretty eyelashes from Better Homes and Gardens) and the guy from the ABC gardening show. Exciting stuff!

Outdoor garden design. I prefer the floral artworks inside (as you can no doubt tell...)

RMIT Floral Fashion Show, which is always a favourite for me!

Tasty flower design.

Salmon, orange and lush green. Beautiful!

Not part of the RMIT fashion show, but drop dead gorgeous!

More to come, I promise. First I must attend to uni work and resting my gym-sore body.

Reminder: Flower & Garden Show

Just thought I'd put out a little reminder that today the Melbourne Flower & Garden Show commences. It runs from Wednesday til Sunday, 9am - 5pm and is a wonderful feast for the flower-loving eyes!

Inside the Royal Exhibition Building various flower arrangements (as seen above) and flower fashion design (yes, flower outfits!) are displayed, while outside showcases various garden designs and has many a plant stall holder.

I'm a lover of flowers and my mother and grandmother are lovers of gardens, so we'll be heading in tomorrow. Hopefully the weather improves and we have a lovely day! Photos will follow shortly after, I promise :)

Cheri

I have just finished watching Cheri (2009). I remember it failing to recieve much love in the cinemas when it came out, so I didn't expect a lot out of it. I loved it. Deliciously beautiful.

I loved the fashions, the drinks in the greenery, the witty dialogue. Reflecting on it, the plot wasn't fantastic but it was so easily watchable and enjoyable. I really enjoyed it.

Rupert Friend in all his charming glory.

The above has to be my favourite outfit of Michelle Pfeiffer's many in the movie.

Felicity Jones was simply stunning too.

Such beautiful colouring throughout the film. I could happily live in any of the places shown.

Definitely worth checking out, if only for the visual pleasures :)

We love Mali and Ongaht

On Saturday we had a trip to the zoo! We had some tourists in toe, so we made sure to visit the Australian animals bit (which we usually skip) and made sure to visit everyone's favourites.

My favourite? The baby elephants, of course! I've been very lucky that my boyfriend has been very understanding of my love for the baby elephants and has taken me a couple of times to see the cuties :) He's even written about it in poetry! So I know he secretly enjoys it too, but the minions (i.e. little children) running around like maniacs wear thin pretty quickly.

Lucky for us, baby Mali put on quite a show! Mali was quick to jump in the pool, ducking and diving. That was cute enough, but then Mumma got in and Mali truly started her fun!

Mali kept trying to jump up on her mum's back!

And was surprisingly successful!

Ongaht was curious, but a bit too shy to join in.

He was a cutie in his own right; protecting the herd by chasing away a manky looking peacock (that later followed us everywhere!!).

Look alikes.

The other day I was told I look like Lily Allen. I was baffled. I think I look nothing like her. She is gorgeous, but there is no resemblense.

I'm more accustomed to being told I look like Laura Prepon.

And Mr. Boy loves that I look like Tina Majorino.

And once or twice being paid the compliment that I look like Claire Danes.

Never Lily Allen though.

No complaints though :) All are beautiful ladies.

Which celebrities have you been told you look like?

Prouder. Again.

Check out what arrived in the mail today...

Booyah! Yep, it's a fancy bit of paper that says "Fuck Yeah! You're a teacher now!"

I didn't bother getting my certificate for my Bachelor of Arts framed. Nor did I bother with the professional photographs on the night. I didn't really work hard for my Bachelor of Arts. I just did it and got out. But this one is different.

I slaved my butt off for this one. I cried my eyes out and I stressed until the stress ball popped. And I loved it all. So this one is getting framed.

Things I love about Easter:

1. Hot cross buns for breakfast
2. Kinder Surprise Easter Bunnies
3. Cadbury Creme Eggs.

Yummmmmmmmmm...

Heaven.

[picture removed]

I know, I know. Croissants yesterday, creme eggs today! I'm terrible for your visual waistline. However, I'm studying. And it sucks. Especially since Mr. Love is turning me away without my sooky procrastinating need for hugs and cuddles being fulfilled.

Croissant cravings.

Right now I'm working on my literature review. Well, I should be.

Instead I am craving croissants. Warm, soft and fluffy. That's how I like them. No ham and cheese. Not cut open and shoved with butter. Just the plain croissant.

Although I could be tempted by this croissant and nutella combo. Yummm...

I'm going to go mad if I don't eat one today.

I really will.

Thoroughly Modern Millie

This is, hands down, no questions asked, my favourite film. And unfortunately one that not many people know about. My grandma introduced it to me as her favourite about five years ago now. Whenever I'm feeling down, this is the movie that will instantly cheer me up.

Millie (Julie Andrews) is a Modern. Determined to marry her boss, she has tossed her cares and curls away in 1922 New York. She quickly befriends Miss Dorothy (Mary Tyler Moore), a wealthy girl who is all alone in the world hoping to become an actress.

They meet Jimmy (James Fox) at the friendship dance where he whips out some wicked moves in the Tapeoka. This bit alone is why I love the movie so much :) Video here.

And although Millie is wooed by Jimmy, she is still determined to marry her boss. Whoever that may be. After all, Jimmy only works with paperclips.

Millie hits the jackpot in her search for the perfect boss/husband: Trevor Graydon (John Gavin).

Before being whisked off to a weekend away with Jimmy and Miss Dorothy to meet Muzzy (Carol Channing) and love advice.

No story is complete without The Bad Guy. Meet Mrs. Meers (Beatrice Lillie). Sad to be all alone in the world, isn't it?

Along the way you get some awesome costumes. For example:

Another outfit I wish I could wear to the office...

Some cute bits:

And an elevator that requires dancing...

Really, what's not to like?
