St. Valentines

On 14 February, 1900 - St. Valentines Day - a group of dignified school girls and their teachers went on a picnic to Hanging Rock.





Four of the school girls were granted permission to explore The Rock. After all, they'd only be gone a little while...


Three of the school girls and their teacher disappeared that day, never to return. Never to be found.




Peter Weir's film Picnic at Hanging Rock (1975), based on the book of the same title by Joan Lindsay, is hauntingly beautiful. The soft lighting, soothing but eeire pan flute and ache from the rock combine together to create a absolutely stunning film.

While unfortunately I won't be spending Valentines Day at Hanging Rock, I will be going on a picnic with my delightful boy. Very excited :)

Back to School!

Tomorrow is Orientation Day for my new Masters of Teaching course. It's all kind of snuck up on me, even though I've been counting down until I start. (I'm so nervous!) I'm still yet to go out and collect the appropriate books and stationary. So today, while out and about supposedly shopping for groceries I found some goodies :)


My gorgeous new pencil case that features some cute monsters. My youngest brother actually has the same one! Twins!




And then I stumbled across this gorgeous dress...


It reminded me so much of the lovely dresses my mother and my grandmother would make for me as a child, I just simply had to try it on! It's a bit short for my usual liking, but it was just too cute, and for $14, I'm not going to complain :D



In the same store (Tree of Life), my sister found me these stunning earrings, featuring none other than beloved Queen Elizabeth!

How perfect will these be for my History classes? :D

Still yet to get those groceries... Whoops! ;)

It's Complicated

I had a lovely date today with an equally lovely boy :) The charming child reminded that he owed me an outing to a chick flick after seeing a zombie gory movie that wasn't really my cup of tea. So off we went to see 'It's Complicated'. Just a few days too early for the Valentines Day film :( Having only heard great reviews for 'It's Complicated' though, I was more than happy to sit through it. And I'm so glad I did :)

The main thoughts I had throughout the film were:
1. Meryl Streep is absolutely and completely gorgeous. I hope I age as beautifully as her. On leaving the cinema, there was a big promotional poster up for the film. My date commented that she looks so much better in the film, rather than the plastic air-brushed face on the poster. And he is completely right. She's stunning!

2. I love Meryl's house. I love the house. I want it. I want the beautiful big lawn at the front of the house, the swing hanging from the tree, the gorgeous kitchen... All of it!

3. I want to eat at Meryl's bakery. That place looked beautiful. Such high ceilings! And beautiful big windows!

4. I want to try lavender and honey ice cream. I bet it's delicious!

5. I want to be like that when I'm older! :D

Valentines Day

For a while I was thinking that Valentines Day would be a waste of a film. You know, too cheesey, too predictable. But after finally watching the trailers, I cannot wait to see it! Bring on Feb 11! :D

Chop Chop!

I'm just about to head off to the hairdressers. I'm sooo excited! My hair has been feeling far too long lately and I just want to grab the scissors and hack away at it myself! Today, however, I'm not getting just my normal trim. Today, I'll be getting some bangs. I'm using this picture of Mandy Moore as inspiration:

We remember.


Throughout this past year I have heard absolute horror stories of the bushfires that scare me so much I cannot repeat them. To have lived through it... is completely unimaginable.

The skeletons of so many trees remain, haunting the hills. Yet slowly, life is returning there.

Those that survived Black Saturday, the home owners, land owners, business owners, family, friends, neighbours are incredibly brave and strong.

Thank you to the CFA volunteers that fought so hard and saved so many. We are forever in your debt.

We will never forget.

Karl Lagerfeld

I've just been having a snoop at the images from the 2010 Spring/Summer Karl Lagerfeld for Chanel Paris fashion show. I must say, I'm absolutely and completely in love with the pastel palette and the funky hair-dos.



I love the almost 1940s style of the sleepy sky blue jacket on the left in the above picture. I'd happily add any of these pieces to my wardrobe!


Now I'm off to see if I can imitate the model's hair :)
