Royally inspired.

Boyfriend, if you see this - do not panic. pretty please? :)

Inspired by the Royal Wedding last month, I've been thinking of things I would like at my own wedding. Again, I'm no where near Marriage Land, but you know, every girl dreams :)

I've collected these images from here, there and everywhere over the last few years, so apologies for not citing them.

The Inspiration.

Fun, magical and exciting.

The Size.

A small and intimate affair please. I just want to be surrounded by love :)

The Setting.

The ceremony would take place outside, under a big tree in either a garden or forest.

The reception would then be a casual picnic of sorts, that carried on into the night.

The Bridesmaids.

My sisters will be my bridesmaids, in different colourful dresses that flatter them.

The Flowers.

A beautiful rainbow of colours! Ranunculus maybe? Roses? Peonies?

The Food.

No gifts for our wedding please. Instead, bring a plate of food to share. A BBQ or something will be provided, and lots of champagne!

The Cake.

The Hair.

I want to wear flowers in my hair! Who cares about the rest??? haha

Serious bling.

The other day was my parent's wedding anniversary. 25(+) years together and still in love :) Makes you feel all warm and fuzzy inside!

The celebrate the occasion, they both got new rings. Dad's ring is on its way still, but here is Mum's new ring:

The Wedding

I watched it all. And I loved it. Well, some of the ceremony was boring, but I loved when the now Duke and Duchess of Cambridge shared glances and smiles together. I think those bits would be the favourite bits of my wedding, if and when it comes.

Loved the dress. Very Grace Kelly was my first reaction, and the reaction of my friends. I liked that the train was small. I wanted more flowers and a tiara more like Diana's wedding tiara, but that's okay. Very demure and graceful.

Her sister Pippa looked absolutely stunning! Hot hot hot! Gorgeous. Nearly upstaged Catherine. Nearly.

Loved gossiping about some of the guests outfits, hats, shoes, coats. The amount of people wearing black or white amazed me! I know black is kind of okay for weddings now, but I would have stayed well away from it had I been invited to a royal wedding. Same with white. You just don't go there, ever.

And, of course, what the hell was going on with Beatrice of York's hat/headdress/antlers? All I could see was Lady Gaga's lobsters. It was terrible.

Same same, but different?

Royally excited!

I've been sucked into watching those delightfully crummy morning shows about the Royal Wedding. I was intrigued by the wedding before this, curious to how a modern royal wedding would unfold today. But wonderful Kerri-Anne Kennerley has just informed me that it seems the wedding will take on a more whimsical style. Now I'm much more excited! A royal wedding with a fairytale style wedding?? Could it get much better? Hahaha!

I do wonder how Kate and William feel about some of the sacrifices they've no doubt had to make in order to keep with tradition, and the media. I hope it is still a wonderfully intimate and love filled affair that becomes a beautiful and happy day in their lives together.

The Young Victoria

Let me continue on with my Emily Blunt love. She is stunningly beautiful and classy, as seen in Foyle's War and Gulliver's Travels. And my love for her acting and beauty continues into The Young Victoria (2009).

The whole cast of The Young Victoria is fantastic. I love Mark Strong (who starred as Septimus in Stardust), Miranda Richardson (Queen Mab in Merlin), Paul Bettany (Master and Commander, A Beautiful Mind) and gorgeous Rupert Friend.

However, I feel that the plot of the film is... lost. It seems to attempt to focus on so many different things, but in doing so, it loses itself. I admire the characterisation of Victoria as a strong, independent feminist before her time. The love story is sweet. The rivalry and challenges between Victoria and Sir John Conroy is a fantastic power struggle.

If it is meant to be a love story, which with the way the film ends, I think is cut short. I would have loved to watch out the relationship between Victoria and Albert grow, as I have with The Duchess and Marie Antoinette. I like watching lives. Perhaps they'll make a sequel?

Costume-wise... The dresses are lovely, as you can see. The hair styles... seem dowdy and awkward to me. And unlike with Marie Antoinette, I feel no need to mimic Victoria's hair styles. I do love the constant use of fresh flowers in Victoria's hair, dresses and hats. It brings an extra bit of freshness to the whole appearance.

It's worth watching for the beauty of it all, but I do feel robbed of the potential of a fantastic story.

Curtain

Just taking another glimpse at my favourite 100 Layer Cake blog, and spotted these lovely curtains. I love the colours used and the magic of it all. They perhaps look a little lost in the hugeness of the space used in the wedding. I'm trying to imagine them in a lounge room or bedroom. I imagine they'd look quite pretty :)

I'm not getting married any time soon, but that doesn't stop me from drooling! haha The best pages are the 'Real Weddings' stories. They'll leave you all warm and fuzzy inside :)

Love is in the air...

Every once in a while, I get addicted to weddings. And this wedding has just sent me into a tailspin of deilght! These have to be some of the most beautiful wedding photographs I've seen in a long time (maybe even forever? *gasp*)



I won't be getting married any time soon, I know that much :P (Actually, my boyfriend did say something when I showed him my new 1920s white dress I had found at an op shop...) But it doesn't stop a girl from dreaming and planning.



I'd love to do a relaxed, vintage fun kind of theme, but I don't know if I'm cool enough to pull it off...

Cookies for the road?? I'll take one... or two.... or three please!
