We Are Family.

We are now a family! Over the weekend we adopted a wonderfully ugly fat cat that is what the adoption agency called 'violently affectionate' and are head over heels in love with him :)

Moving out together.

The Boy and I have been talking for some time now about moving out together. I've gone through waves of excitement and nervousness and back to excitement. Honestly though? I can't wait. I'm ready now :)

We've been looking at places that are in suburbs that aren't too far from our parents' places. It gives us a great list of potentials that are closer to the city and perfectly affordable rent-wise for just the two of us. How nice it would be, to be free of family and housemates! The questions are now traveling down the track of unit, house or apartment? I love the idea of having a garden to play with, but realise that that may not be an option as renters. We'd also love to get a kitty or two, so we'd have to find somewhere pet-friendly.

Any hints, tips, ideas or words of wisdom? Please pass them on! I would love to hear them :)

Museum Date Day

Date days are wonderful, warm and fuzzy days :) My lovely boy and I shared one just last week.

It all started with some delicious French toast cooked by Mr. Boyfriend after a lazy sleep-in. Strawberries, banana, honey and creamy vanilla yoghurt were added for yumminess. I'd never had French toast before. Consider me converted!

And then we ventured out and explored the Melbourne Museum*.

Despite my thesis being focused on museum learning, it seems to have escaped into realm of Missing Socks and was able to enjoy the day without thinking of too much theory. We had good fun giggling about while playing with the exhibits. The history of human dissection was equally gross and interesting!

Then it was time to head back home and relax with some left overs, tv shows and movies. Beautiful :)

Sherlock Love

The Boy and I celebrated Valentines a week ago, you know, beat the busybusiness of February 14. By luck, we were able to 'recreate' our very first date. It seems Sherlock Holmes likes to pop up regularly in our relationship :)

We had dinner at the restaurant where I famously spat gelati upon him (whilst giggling at his jokes, so it's a compliment really...) on our first date. I obviously made a good impression that night though, since he makes me ice cream often enough! After wallowing in that trough, mind, a little more dainty than the first time, we went off to see Sherlock Holmes. Yep, I'm all mature and a proper lady now!

Sherlock Holmes: Game of Shadows

I enjoyed the visual feast of the short-lived gypsy set and costumes. I loved Stephen Fry as Mylcroft. Yawned a bit in the slow-mo-running-through-the-woods-getting-shot-at scene. And wondered when Rachel McAdams would be coming back with some awesome outfits and hats that I so loved from the first film. They can't have killed her off, surely? Most of the time though we were waiting for the awesomeness of BBC Sherlock to emerge.

Happy Valentines Day!

What do you have planned for today? We had our Valentines celebrations last week, so we're just going to whip up some yummy pancakes for breakfast today.

And maybe play a little bit of Harry Potter Lego on the PS3. Yeah, I'm a gamer girl *cough splatter cough die*

The Boy loves pancakes with choc chips in the middle. Is it just me, or is that weird and gross? I love choc chips, but put them in cookies or something sensible please! :P

Happy New Years!

How did you spend your New Years Eve?

The boyfriend and I went down to a friend's beach house with a bunch of people. We spent the final hours of 2011 on a deserted patch of beach, lit only by the glowing Milky Way and the glow sticks playing glow-in-the-dark frisbee. Haha There was a lot of glowing going on :)

After the count down, another party of people joined us on the beach and set off some illegal fireworks. It was amazing and so beautiful! I had never seen them so close before!

We spent the night (or what was left of the morning) sleeping in the car, away from the guitars in the main house, and were awoken by the young neighbours riding the new Christmas bicycles about. We chatted and then grabbed some fish and chips before heading home.

It was a lovely time :) And a happy celebration of what was 2011 and the 2 year anniversary of the Boy and I <3

Best chocolate cake. Ever.

Yesterday was my mum's birthday. Such an occasion called for cake. And a good one.

Thankfully the Google Gods blessed me with this recipe.

Delicious, moist and chocolatey. What more do you want but a little ice-cream to go with it? :)

The cake was met with much approval.

Luckily we had made another cake. It was gone by mid-morning.

The Grand Finale

The Boyfriend had asked what I'd like to do for my birthday a few weeks ago. Dinner at a restaurant we had been to on one of our early dates was a must. Why? Because they do the most wonderful wonderful desserts.

To Southbank we went. And in particular, Meat and Wine, Co.

A delicious meal was followed by this:

You can imagine the squealing and giggling and lip-smacking that went on once this metre-long tray arrived at our table.

It was appropriately called The Grand Finale.

Not to be missed! A chocolate fondante with vanilla ice-cream, vanilla creme brulee, banoffe tart and baked passionfruit yoghurt. Served on a platter for two.

The banoffe tart was my favourite :)

Even though this place is famous for its steaks, the dessert truly wins out for me.

Then we headed to Galactic Circus and played some serious games of air hockey, zombie shooting and ninja shooting games. Super duper fun :)

It was such a fantastic and fun date night :) Loved every single second of it :)

Craftanoon

Every now and then, I feel super crafty. When an especially wonderful photo of my Loverboy and I appeared, frames were needed. And I thought I'd go overboard with ewwy gooey lovey dovey stuff :)

I transformed these plain white frames into cheesy masterpieces.

First step, paint them a lovey dovey red.

Then, gather a variety of shades of pinks to paint love hearts of various sizes in the corners of the frames. Too much is never enough.

I then used fabric paint to write 'Princess Frivolous loves LoverBoy' on the frames. 'Loves' appears on parallel sides, so that if you read it in a circle, it goes on and on and on and on and on and on. And on.

Completed!

Entertainment Tonight

The Main Man in my life is a film and television studies guy, with special love for tv. That means he has excellent taste in tv shows. I thought I'd share some with you since the cold is catching up and everyone likes to snuggle under the blankets with some lovable characters :)

Community

This is one of our favourite shows. I don't know what to say other than that it is Awesome. That's right, capital A there. I love the constant pop culture references. The show has even inspired us to hunt down some other shows, like The Cape.

'A Fistful of Paintballs' is one of my favourite episodes, but you must start from the start. Or else.

Misfits

British Heroes, how it should have been done. That's how The Man sums it up :) I never was a Heroes person, but I am definitely a Misfits person. It's dirty and gritty and tough. And really funny and even sweet.

When you're scared that they are running in circles in season 1, killing people and cleaning up the mess, relax. Season 2 blows it up and is so much better for it. I promise.

Modern Family

Watch the first episode and fall in love. I guarantee.

Better Off Ted

Like others to follow on this list, Better Off Ted was an unfortunately short-lived show that should have gone on and on and on and on and on and on and on. Massive love for Veronica in this one.

And Myman and Lem.

Arrested Development

I hadn't seen Arrested Development until this year. According to my boyfriend and friends, this was a great travesty. Into Season 2, I completely agree.

I love Lucille. I love Lindsay. I love Buster. It's funny, lovable and damn cute. Win win win, chicken dance :D

Freaks and Geeks

Another show that the boyfriend insisted on watching. I was a bit ho-har about it, mostly after listening to so many people rave about it. Listening to all the Freaks and Geeks talk, I thought it sounded boring. Not so. I get giddy and giggly watching this show. Especially the relationship between Lindsay and Nick :)

Haven't finished it yet, and don't want it to end either!

Bows and birthdays!

It's my birthday! Happy Birthday to me! :D

I've finished my literature review and I'm ready to celebrate. Blog posts coming, I promise! Including many delicious desserts, cute kitties, exploring the Dandenongs and maybe a few recipes!

For now though, feast your eyes on my beautiful Boyfriend's wrapping skills. He understands my love for bows :)

Inspired by the Royal Wedding last month, I've been thinking of things I would like at my own wedding. Again, I'm no where near Marriage Land, but you know, every girl dreams :)

A small and intimate affair please. I just want to be surrounded by love :)

The ceremony would take place outside, under a big tree in either a garden or forest.

The reception would then be a casual picnic of sorts, that carried on into the night.

My sisters will be my bridesmaids, in different colourful dresses that flatter them.
