Not only is he of the Easter variety, but also a Kinder Surprise breed. We all know I love Kinder Surprise chocolates. Delicious! Did you know that many countries, like the USA, don't get Kinder Surprise chocolates? The poor buggers!

Sherlock Love

The Boy and I celebrated Valentines a week ago, you know, beat the busybusiness of February 14. By luck, we were able to 'recreate' our very first date. It seems Sherlock Holmes likes to pop up regularly in our relationship :)

We had dinner at the restaurant where I famously spat gelati upon him (whilst giggling at his jokes, so it's a compliment really...) on our first date. I obviously made a good impression that night though, since he makes me ice cream often enough! After wallowing in that trough, mind, a little more dainty than the first time, we went off to see Sherlock Holmes. Yep, I'm all mature and a proper lady now!

Sherlock Holmes: Game of Shadows

I enjoyed the visual feast of the short-lived gypsy set and costumes. I loved Stephen Fry as Mylcroft. Yawned a bit in the slow-mo-running-through-the-woods-getting-shot-at scene. And wondered when Rachel McAdams would be coming back with some awesome outfits and hats that I so loved from the first film. They can't have killed her off, surely? Most of the time though we were waiting for the awesomeness of BBC Sherlock to emerge.

Milkwood Masters

If you live anywhere near Melbourne, you must go to Milkwood.

Milkwood is a wonderful little cafe in Brunswick. Absolutely delicious organic foods! I'm a little obsessed with the ricotta pancakes with honey yoghurt, banana and toasted shredded coconut.

Yep, I'm dribbling right now.

Yummiest coffee I have ever had. And some heavy reading... my Masters. Time to read it all the way through. It's a little mind boggling. Thank god for Milkwood

Beach bits

My summer beach days are sadly over. I had such a wonderful time. It reminded me of when we used to go to the beach in summer when I was younger. Swimming, sunburn (luckily not too much this time!) and the pub for dinner with a red lemonade (they always taste better at the pub).

Much ice cream was had at the fantastic ice cream shop. Flavours included:

• honeycomb
• bubblegum
• chocolate coconut rough
• fairy floss
• turkish delight
• apple pie

And that's the real reason one goes to the beach!

I want to go back so much! Especially now that Melbourne is sweltering again!

Best chocolate cake. Ever.

Yesterday was my mum's birthday. Such an occasion called for cake. And a good one.

Thankfully the Google Gods blessed me with this recipe.

Delicious, moist and chocolatey. What more do you want but a little ice-cream to go with it? :)

The cake was met with much approval.

Luckily we had made another cake. It was gone by mid-morning.

I love days like today. It feels like winter is finally giving way to spring.

Some festively plump macaroons as a little snack. I want to learn how to make these babies, but they seem a little bit fiddly. Can you get packet mix macaroons? hehehe

My research is going really well. I've really put my bum up in the air and got stuff done. It feels fantastic! So pumped! :D

Little Green Riding Hood.

Mum and I stopped at Warren Glen for lunch, and this gorgeous girl popped out while we wandered the gift shop. Delicious lunch and wonderful gift shop if anyone is ever out that way. Very popular too, so you know it's good!

Study snack.

This is how I study. I have a bit of a draft due Monday and I feel like I'm falling behind. So this is what I'll be doing all weekend. Hoorah!

Tiny Teddies, Nerd Rope, Nerds (wild cheery and watermelon flavour!), milk & cookies Milky Bar and peanut butter Twix.

On nom nom nom. I'll let you know how the peanut butter Twix goes!

I'm thinking I'd like to organise a small giveaway on my blog. Would a sugary collection such as the above be in demand? I'm just not quiet sure what to giveaway, see. hehehehe!

The Grand Finale

The Boyfriend had asked what I'd like to do for my birthday a few weeks ago. Dinner at a restaurant we had been to on one of our early dates was a must. Why? Because they do the most wonderful wonderful desserts.

To Southbank we went. And in particular, Meat and Wine, Co.

A delicious meal was followed by this:

You can imagine the squealing and giggling and lip-smacking that went on once this metre-long tray arrived at our table.

It was appropriately called The Grand Finale.

Not to be missed! A chocolate fondante with vanilla ice-cream, vanilla creme brulee, banoffe tart and baked passionfruit yoghurt. Served on a platter for two.

The banoffe tart was my favourite :)

Even though this place is famous for its steaks, the dessert truly wins out for me.

Then we headed to Galactic Circus and played some serious games of air hockey, zombie shooting and ninja shooting games. Super duper fun :)

Birthday desserts

I had the most wonderful, sugar-filled birthday last week.

The Boy and I had lunch at Miss Marple's Tea Room in Sassafras. I'd heard much praise for it from friends, so it was time to give it a whirl. Especially when their website held images of desserts that looked like this:

While we didn't have the sundae pictured above, we saw plenty being delivered to the tables and they looked exactly as pictured. Delicious!

Instead we went for Belgian waffles and 'Vicar's Folly'. You'll have to wait a little for pictures, but for now this description of the Vicar's Folly from their menu should wet your appetite.

A delicious congregation of butterscotch ice-cream, honeycomb pieces, chocolate, whipped cream and caramel fudge. A sundae that is definitely "heaven sent!"

Following such a wallowing, we snooped about a wonderful store called 'Tea Leaves', right next to Miss Marples. Miss Marples has a lovely collection of teapots which excited me, but the teapots in Tea Leaves was even more magnificent! Plus a million and one different types of teas to sniff!

We left with a Strawberry and Champagne flavoured tea and a minute teapot that reminds me of Miss Marples Tea House. A nice little souvenir :) We haven't tried it yet, but it smells delicious and can only mean good things!

After heading home and having a short food nap, the eating continued with a family roast pork and an oversized ice cream cake:

Deliciously deadly.

Today I learnt that beaters aren't meant to mix cookie dough.

Cookies turned out damn good though :)

Screaming Savers.

The sign that every op-shopper loves; Savers.

Yep, I went to the 50% off clothing sale yesterday. You know, because I'm running out of clothes and stuff -.- Truly, I nearly didn't go, but then I kept thinking about it and thinking about it. Like the croissant cravings, it was getting in the way of my study. So I went.

I controlled myself this time. I only looked for things I could pair with my million and one knitted jumpers and stayed well away from those aisles.

My finds:

This dress is a much nicer purple than the picture would suggest. And prettier.

The place was screaming with coat hanger screeching and babies crying. Ahh... the sounds of a Saver sale!

This dress is in a serious need for a clean. It may end up being a bit too overwhelming, but I could always have a go at adjusting it. Maybe. The winning factor? Long sleeves. And $3.50. Love.

Very proud of my self control, even if it did slip a little afterwards.

Yummm... Cannoli.

Stealth cake

If you were anywhere near Melbourne today, you know how beautiful the weather was. The sun was shining on brightly; trying to persuade everyone that winter was far far away. Oh how I wish it was so!

I decided to make the most of the weather and study demands. That meant a road trip to Yarra Glen. It's such a fantastic drive out there - beautiful views all around. Also slightly obsessed with driving around with my windows down playing Lady Gaga nice and loud! hahaha

All for this. The cakes from a cafe called 'Delicious' are damn delicious. Beautiful fudgy homemade hazelnut brownie. So good.

Oh, and definitely converted to the world of coffee.

I made sure to sit outside in the sun, amongst the garden. Smelt fantastic!

Homeward bound! How beautiful do the clouds look? I just want winter to stay away.

Melted chocolate and peanut butter soup.

It's delicious. Trust me.

It's been getting cold in Melbourne and I'm trying to get some study done. Inevitably, this means this girl gets a sugar craving. While I now drink coffee, I only like it from a cafe. No instant coffee business please. So I revert back to the ways of hot chocolate. Or rather, melted chocolate and peanut butter soup.

To make melted chocolate and peanut butter soup, maul one of the few left over Easter bunnies. (Yeah, that box of creme eggs? Gone.)

Place mauled bunny in a mug or bowl, depending how much chocolate you have at hand.

Add a dollop of crunchy peanut butter (because we all know that's the best kind of peanut butter).

Place in microwave. I put it in for 30-40seconds. Sometimes it's perfect, sometimes our concoction needs a little longer. Adjust accordingly.

Mix.
